Why do you like it?
When you play Laranjal you are away from it all - there is no noise, encroaching real estate developments or hotels. You are aware only of the local wildlife and the odd cracking sound as another golf ball strikes one of the umbrella pines.
The course is in superb condition and shares the same great feature as her sister courses, namely that it is difficult to lose your golf ball. You may be behind a tree but you won't need to re-load, unless you stray into one the water hazards, which are plentiful.
Laranjal adds a new experience to the Quinta do Lago portfolio, with a good choice of tee boxes providing enjoyment for all standards of player. I recommend you give it a try, and know you will enjoy it.
There are a number of good holes, many of them valley shaped which I particularly like. The 4th is a good example, and all the par 3s are good.
The par 3 11th hole: 165m with water and bunkering, all the way to the green.
Level of challenge
I like the greens at Laranjal - they are tricky on most holes, with three clear pin position options. Many are also two-tiered, making club selection and putting a challenge. The overall golfing experience is very good and Laranjal can sit proudly among the Algarve's elite courses.
When to go
The course will be open all year. The busiest times are March to October, and off-season prices will reflect this.
The Clubhouse serves breakfast, lunch and a range of snacks. It overlooks the course and features a large outdoor terrace. There are also several buggy-bars which circulate around the course from 8.00 am to 6.00 pm in Laranjal.
There is a lot of water on the course. Lakes are used to recycle water from the excellent irrigation system, making the course environmentally friendly.
