Small and understated, this is a working studio for French artist Corine Thinon as well as being a shop for those wanting to buy a piece of her distinctive art.

The bright and vibrant paintings both in the window and displayed on the street outside will draw you towards this little shop in historic Lagos.

Corine understands that art needs to be accessible, and has priced her originals competitively, as well as offering a range of signed prints. There’s a good choice of small pieces and some larger paintings in both modern and classical styles, each with an impressionistic influence.

Corine is a very versatile painter, and her works show this. Nothing is too much trouble here, and when you have picked your painting, shipping and framing can also be arranged to suit each buyer.

Corine has many paintings in her atelier but she also accepts commissions, and has completed several of houses for private clients. If you want Corine to paint something specifically for you then she is happy to discuss style ideas and to work from photographs.

Rua Cândido dos Reis, nº23, Lagos. The atelier is in the historic centre of Lagos and can be found if you walk through the square with the statue of São Sebastian and onto the next square with the large green tiled building. From this square turn left and the atelier is on the right hand side, about 30 metres from the start of the road.

Price guide

Original paintings start from around €130 and go up to over €1,500 and more depending on the size of the piece. High-quality signed prints can be bought from €30 and are a good option for those on a budget or not looking to spend so much.

Opening times

Monday - Saturday from 10.30am until 7pm during the winter months and until midnight during the summer. Closes for an hour each day for lunch between 1.30pm and 2.30pm.
