Why do you love it?
Quinta de Benamor is surrounded by almond, carob and olive trees. Your sense of golfing tradition is enhanced in the knowledge that the legendary Henry Cotton was the original course designer.
The atmosphere and layout reminds me of a good British parkland course, and Benamor is an away-from-it-all, simple yet attractive and enjoyable golfing experience - the course is always in good condition and always a joy to play. You won't have to be at your absolute best to manage a score, and the views both to the north and south are beautiful.
Finally Benamor has a delightful little church which overlooks the eighteenth green, which is now being restored to its original state - it offers golfers the opportunity of prayer before, during and after their game!
If you miss the fairways you will find yourself amongst clover weeds - unpleasant at the best of times, so keep straight.
Personally I favour the final par 5, 18th as a fine hole for any match to finish on. However in terms of difficulty, the par 4, 16th hole is the most challenging - it requires a good drive up the left side of the fairway and then great judgement for your second to a well-protected green.
The signature hole is the 16th, but collectively the five par 3s are worth mentioning - play these well and you will probably have scored very well.
Level of challenge
The challenge in terms of pure golfing skills is fairly easy, but overall this is a most enjoyable and worthwhile golf experience.
Who plays there?
Golfers at all levels. And Benamor is noted for its tireless work with junior golf and local schools to bring on the next generation.
