Name of spa
Essential Fitness & Spa, Boa Vista Golf Resort, Lagos
The spa and fitness centre is modern, light and very spacious. And the spa lounge/waiting room is a bit of a treat as it overlooks the indoor pool area.
The spa uses nail products by Jessica, and beauty and spa treatments by Decleor and Elemis.
There are four good-sized treatment rooms. Two are set up specifically for facials and massage treatments and have a shower. There is also a light and airy manicure and pedicure room (with a fantastic view of the 18th hole) that’s equipped with two manicure/pedicure chairs not unlike those seen in US nail salons. The fourth room - used for treatments carried out by a qualified osteopath and physiotherapist - is much larger.
Speciality treatments include the Express Facial, Golf & Sports massage and the 3-in-1 Deep Tissue, Hot Stone and Aromatherapy massage. Pedicures are long and luxurious, lasting upwards of an hour, as your therapist will spend extra time making sure all areas of the feet are soft to the touch.
Sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi, large indoor swimming pool (square, not the traditional rectangle shape), 36 locker room, mother & baby changing area, showers & toilets, terrace for light snacks and refreshments from the bar next door, a small outdoor kids pool and a small, well equipped gymnasium.
Why do you like it?
It really is everything under one roof. Check yourself in at the reception desk, and you are en route to the spa for a treatment, a work-out in the gym or a swim in the pool, or all the above. The staff are friendly and only too happy to help make your stay memorable.
When to go?
It’s the ideal place to spend the entire day, starting off with a spa treatment, relaxing by the indoor pool and/or having lunch on the terrace. Or if time is tight, just pop in for a swim, sauna or gym session.
You are given an entrance card which you swipe against a sensor for entry into the changing rooms, gym and spa. There is a charge of €10 for this, but it is refundable before you leave the facility.
From the A22, exit 1 for Lagos. Go straight through the first roundabout, right at the second roundabout, drive 300 metres and take the left hand feeder into the resort (also on the left). The resort is well signposted before you enter. Drive up the road for 100 metres, take the second turning on the right and then right again into the large car park. The fitness centre and spa are up the main steps to the left.
