Name of establishment
Very upmarket beachside restaurant. Light, airy, spacious, modern - lots of glass, fabulous wooden decking, white and blue design theme throughout.
Sophisticated but laid-back at the same time. Great for lunch, especially when the sun is shining. Dress code ranges from smart-casual to beachwear.
What to eat?
Excellent fresh fish and seafood, salads, some meat dishes (very limited), delicious home-made desserts. Works a little like a very exclusive fish market, in that you choose your fish from the counter before you sit down. Does the best grilled squid with garlic and olive oil you will taste anywhere.
What to drink?
A wide choice of good Portuguese wines. The white sangria in particular is spectacular.
Why do you love it?
A fantastic outlook on to the beach, a great choice of fish and seafood, and the type of waiting staff who always remember you without being fawning. The lawn and beach will also keep the children occupied.
What could be improved?
When it's really busy the service can sometimes be a little slow - it probably needs a maitre d' as nobody seems to be totally in charge. Or just order another bottle of wine!
When to go?
Lunchtimes for lingering, evenings for the sunsets. Cool off afterwards with a paddle in the sea.
It's frequented by the rich and famous of Portugal, from footballers to politicians - but without a 'pap' in sight.
About 100 covers, including the beach terrace.
Right on Evaristo beach, near Galé. Some private parking but tight at busy times.
Dinner for two plus wine: approx €70.
Lunchtimes and evenings every day. Opens later (about 8pm) for dinner in the summer.
