Name of hotel
Holiday Inn Algarve, Armação de Pêra
The Holiday Inn Algarve, formerly known as the Hotel Garbe, is a high-standard four-star resort with one of the most enviable beachfront locations in the region. The hotel makes the most of its greatest asset - the view - with the restaurant, bar, swimming pool and terraces all overlooking the stunning beach of Armação de Pêra.
The recent facelift has given the hotel a new lease of life, and now the reception area, bar and bedrooms have a modern and contemporary feel with a corporate style that continues throughout.
The hotel attracts an older clientele but is equally suited to families looking to enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and beach front location.
Many of the guests are repeat customers, which creates a very informal feel, with guests mingling together in the communal areas and chatting freely with the friendly staff.
It’s comfortable, reassuring and with a certain charm and traditional feel which has been lost in many of the hotels across the region. Don’t come here for a ‘bling’ holiday.
185 rooms, 140 of which have those amazing sea views.
A buffet-style breakfast and dinner is available in the Por do Sol restaurant, and is a popular choice, with guests able to opt for one of the daily dishes.
There is also a very good Indian restaurant, The Raj, located within the hotel for those looking for something a little different.
Overlooking the sea there is a large sun terrace with an ample sized pool for those who like to look at the beach but want to avoid the sand!
As well as the bar and restaurants there is also a hairdressing salon, beauty salon, boutique, newsagent and a well-equipped mini gym.
Is it part of a chain?
Part of Crimson Hotels group, who own and operate hotels in the Algarve, UK and Dubai.
The hotel is affiliated to the Holiday Inn brand, part of the global InterContinental Hotels Group.
When to go?
Armação de Pêra is known, most of the year, for being one of the quieter destinations in the Algarve, but during the height of summer the enormous beach is a big draw, whilst the many seemingly-empty apartment blocks fill with (mainly) Portuguese holidaymakers. If you want to enjoy the beach and town without the crowds, then come during the spring or autumn when the weather is great but the beach, bars, cafés and restaurants are quieter.
The hotel runs a series of special offers, particularly outside of the peak summer season. Keep an eye on the website or sign up to the newsletter.
One of the first buildings on the beachfront of Armação de Pêra if you approach the town from the direction of Lagoa. The hotel can be accessed easily from the main street of Avenida Marginal and has parking facilities for guests.
Rooms available from €25 a night during the low season. Full prices available on the hotel website.
