Prima Pasta, Vale de Parra

Style and ambience

Village house converted into a restaurant - an English take on rustic Italian, complete with old-fashioned Chianti bottles wrapped in straw.

Small, compact, friendly, and almost always buzzing, especially in summer.

The food

Fresh and tasty pasta, pizzas and salads. As simple as that. The menu rarely changes but doesn’t need to. And the quality of the food is consistently good. As the saying goes, if it ain’t broke...

The drink

A reasonable range of Portuguese and Italian wine.

Why do you like it?

All the food is freshly cooked - and piping hot.

The staff are fabulous.

Drawbacks

Next to a very busy - and often noisy - main road.

When to go?

Anytime you want a change from Portuguese fare.

It possibly works better in winter, when you are inside, as the terrace is next to the road and can get noisy.

Insider knowledge

The owners both worked in top-end Italian chain restaurants in the UK, where they learned not only to produce good food, with consistency, but the value of friendly, well-trained and multi-lingual staff.

As residents, we avoid it in July and August, when it’s always packed. You’ll need to book a table in summer. Otherwise, you can usually just drop in.

Size

Approx 30 covers inside, with another 20 on the outside terrace.

Location

Estrada Vale de Parra, Albufeira. This is the main link road (not the EN-125) between Albufeira and Armacao de Pera.

Heading in the direction of Armacao de Pera, it’s on the right-hand side of the road, between Vale de Parra and Salgados, on the opposite corner to a school.

Some off-road parking.

Cost

Main course for two plus wine: approx €30

Opening times

Every evening from 6-10pm.
