Why do you like it?
This is a great holiday course, and although there are a number of water hazards, on the whole it’s very difficult to lose your golf ball. Many holes have soft undulating fairways and gentle doglegs, often lined with carob trees or wonderful olive trees, some of which are hundreds of years old. As you play you will also notice the heavenly views of the Atlantic Ocean to the south, bordered by beautiful sandy white beaches. One of those is Fabrica beach next to the village, Cacela Velha, which is well worth a visit during your stay.
The 10th hole, Par 4, 422 metres from the white tees and stroke index 1, requires an accurate tee shot to set you up with a chance of going for the green. However beware - the water hazard on the right inhibits your tee-shot and from there it runs for the remainder of the hole to the green. This is a fine golf hole which is sure to test your golfing ability.
Level of challenge
With large and undulating greens, club selection will determine birdie opportunities. During the winter period, sea breezes increase the challenge.
When to go
All year round, bit I would recommend winter play, when average temperatures range from 10-20° C.
The complex includes the Robinson Club Quinta da Ria Hotel, a 4-star property with indoor and outdoor swimming pools, spa, tennis courts, football pitch, volley-ball and basketball.
Golf/accommodation packages are available.
Promotions include two rounds from €99. See the website for further details on green fees and membership.
