Name of establishment
Enormous restaurant, spread over three floors. A Guia landmark since 1964.
Noisy, bustling, chaotic - the sound of good food and good conversation being enjoyed in equal measure.
What to eat?
Famous for their chicken piri-piri, salad and home-made chips, served by the hundreds. They do have other dishes, but why bother? And save room for the belt-stretching desserts.
What to drink?
There's a basic selection of Portuguese wines, as well as beer, spirits and soft drinks.
Why do you love it?
Fantastic chicken, great family atmosphere, an institution.
What could be improved?
Don't come here for a quiet romantic dinner. It really is noisy, chaotic and full of all ages.
When to go?
They are always busy - perhaps too busy in the height of summer.
You can order 'sim piri-piri' for those who dont like the spice. Or ask for more in a bottle of distilled firewater for those who do.
Seats hundreds all on different levels, I don't think we have yet seen all the nooks and crannies.
