Slide & Splash, Lagoa
What makes it special?
The largest water park in the Algarve, with the best variety and selection of slides.
What age range is this suitable for?
Most of the slides have a height restriction of at least 120cm and an age minimum of 5 years old. There is a kid's play pool which is supervised by life guards but the park is really better suited for older children and teenagers rather than toddlers.
A great place to go with a group of friends for a day out. I wouldn't recommend it as a family day out though, unless all the children are old enough to enjoy the rides and the parents have an inner child that will make them happy to join in!
The dress code is swimwear, and there aren't any rules on jewellery or body piercings.
Got to see/got to do
The Black Hole and Banzai slides are definitely ones to try! Be ready for some competition - a lot of the slides are paired so you can race your friend (or temporary enemy!) to the bottom.
As well as loads of slides, the park has a kid's play pool, Jacuzzi and large swimming pool. There are grassy areas surrounding the slides where you can sit and sunbathe, and several self-service restaurants and cafes to eat. It is also possible to rent sun-beds, umbrellas and lockers for the day.
What could be improved?
As there are so many slides, navigating the park can be confusing, so make sure you pick up a brochure with a map on your way in. The food is decent but not great, so you may prefer to bring your own food in, although no glass bottles are allowed.
When to go?
I would avoid the water park during August if possible, as it's peak season and absolutely packed. You can expect to queue for around 20 minutes for certain slides on busier days.
There are five places to eat in Slide & Splash, including self-service restaurants where you can get hot food and meals such as pizza, burgers, sandwiches and chips. There are also snack bars where you can buy drinks, ice cream and crisps. The food is OK but a little on the expensive side - a general 'meal deal' such as a pizza and drink costs around €8.
Don't wear a strapless bikini! (or hold onto it firmly on all the slides)
On the EN-125 in Vale de Deus, Lagoa. Take exit 6 on the A22 and follow signs for Lagoa and then Slide & Splash.
The park runs a daily bus transfer service to and from many places in the Algarve. Booking in advance for this is required.
Admission into the park is €19 for adults and €15 for children aged between 5 and 10 years old (and senior citizens over 65). The price includes entrance onto all the slides, swimming pool and Jacuzzi.
The bus transfer service also costs extra. Prices depend on the destination and range from €6-14. Full details are available on the website.
The park is open from 10am daily between April and October. Closing times vary from 5pm until 6.30 depending on the season.
