What is it?
Sporting Clube Olhanense, who currently play in the Segunda Liga, the second division of Portuguese football. In addition to the many Portuguese fans, there is also a group of expats (mainly British, Dutch and Swedish), now numbering around 300, who support the club. The fans' website is www.olhanense.net
What makes it special?
The club was founded in 1912 and was promoted recently to the top flight before suffering relegation. A family club catering for young and old where everyone is so friendly.
Wonderful atmosphere among the thousands of local fans who are passionate about their football. The expat group also arranges trips to away games. The coach trip, a commemorative scarf and ticket costs around €25.
The ground holds 7,500 (mostly seated) and fans meet in the many local bars and cafes in Olhao.
Why do you love it?
The trips to away games are great for learning Portuguese football songs and visiting places off the beaten track.
Games are usually played at weekends, but much depends on TV schedules.
Numerous cafes, bars and restaurants in Olhao - excellent for fish.

Varies depending on the match. Normal games - tickets are from €10 to €20 but can be more for bigger games, such as cup ties against Primeira Liga (Premier League) opposition.
