Cave de Vinhos (The Wine Cellar)
In the grounds of Vila Vita Parc hotel in Porches
A true Gothic-style wine cellar, deep underground. Some of the bricks are 150 years old and were imported exclusively from Egypt, Austria and Greece when the cellar was built for the opening of the hotel. It’s therefore not as old as it actually looks, but you’d never know.
You approach it down two sets of long winding stairs, and enter the main section, which houses an enormous wooden dining table under magnificent chandeliers. There are then side areas for wine tasting and storage, with separate Portuguese and Rest of the World sections.

And learn more about how to appreciate great wine, from every region of Portugal and from around the world - in the most atmospheric of surroundings.
Tapas-style nibbles are provided with the wine tastings. And superb food from the hotel is served at special events and for corporate functions.

When to go?
The hotel offer tours on a regular basis that include wine tasting and dinner with the corresponding wines, and organises a series of special wine and food-related events throughout the year.
It can also be booked for private or business events, and is often used by the hotel for invitation-only dining.
Hotel guests can visit the wine cellar any day between 15.30 and 17.30 to choose wine to accompany their dinner in the hotel. (Timings may be subject to change, according to season.)
Ideal for small wine tasting groups of around 10-20 people. Seats ten comfortably for dinner.
