Part of the Vila Sol Premium Golf Resorts. Open to the public. Normal handicap requirements of 28 (men) and 36 (women).
Teeing-off times
Tee times begin from 0740h winter time and 07h00 summer time. It's always recommended to book your tee times in advance. Ten minute intervals are recommended by IAGTO.
Dress code
Only soft spikes are permitted on the course. All players must wear proper clothing. T-shirts, jeans, trainers and bathing shorts are not allowed.
Golfing facilities
Vila Sol Golf Academy for lessons, driving range (from grass and mats), putting greens, chipping area, bunker area, buggies, trollies (manual and electric) and clubs for hire. Plus golf shop.
Why do you like it?
Delightful course design set amidst wonderful Algarve pine trees. Although you are playing on a resort course, the housing does not encroach on your experience of the course or your game. The course is generally in very good condition and well maintained.
Best hole
6th hole on Prime. A magnificent view on this par 5 that opens from an elevated tee box to a wide inviting fairway. This spectacular hole encompasses a lake midway and a beautiful approach to a green ringed by trees.
Level of challenge
It's a moderate level from the standard tees, but certainly more challenging from the back tees. It starts with a stroke 3, 7 and 1 and with one par 3 of 190m from the back tees.
Who plays there?
The course has played host to the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation Tournament for several years, and hosted the Portugal Open in 1992 and 1993. Many top footballers and celebs can be seen on the greens all year round.
When to go
Open all year round. Peak seasons are Spring and Autumn. Greens fees are low in the summer and winter months, with special rates including a buggy.
Food options?
There is a restaurant and clubhouse bar with a spacious open veranda overlooking the 18th green.
Non-golfing facilities
The numerous hotel facilities are adjacent to the course, including bars, restaurants, spa, beach and shopping.
